Apply any lotions or perfumes BEFORE putting on any piece of jewelry. Ideally, jewelry should be the last item put on, and the first item taken off.
Avoid wearing metal jewelry in the shower, pool, ocean, etc as this may advance the tarnishing process, or damage the jewelry.
Wipe off jewelry with a soft cloth before storing in an air tight container with or without an anti-tarnish strip.
